Greece - Athens

Greece - Athens

October 1, 2024

Steps: 20,412

Our final stop in Greece on the cruise was in Athens. It was only fitting that we went straight for the Acropolis when we arrived.

After getting off the cruise we had to take the bus/train to get to the main hub of the city. We were able to purchase an all day travel pass which helped out given we missed our initial bus and had to jump on a different one (again, thanks Google Maps!)

The view of the city was amazing from this hilltop adjacent to the Acropolis. Due to extremely long wait times and having been here before, we opted to not explore the Acropolis and took off into the city after a quick gander.

The stadium was set up for a concert which was a unique setting. But would be neat to see!

We went to check out this fun government building. Like any nosey tourist, I couldn't help but poke my head inside to see what was going on. Instead of getting told to leave, we were invited in to learn about the culture of Saudi Arabia. Above Kaylee is painting an ornament that she carved. We both now have our own handmade ornament made with natural paint. (You can see the powder we used for color)

Though the fashion wasn't really my style, I enjoyed seeing the instruments that they play!

Since we were ahead of schedule on the way back, we decided to walk around the port area some more. It also had some neat features that I typically wouldn't go to had we not been on a cruise. There were a total of 6 ships in port with us in Athens, making it the busiest one we had!
