Italy - Tre Cime Di Lavaredo
September 23, 2024
Steps: 25,250
This national park started out being something we wanted to see, but didn't understand the hype until we actually got there. It turned out to be one of the prettiest/best hikes we have ever been on.
The drive up was beautiful in itself. Above is the parking lot, which honestly had some of the best views!
We were once again above a beautiful blanket of clouds. Only this time, the mountains in the distance looked like little islands.
Similar to almost all hikes in the region, you are commonly in another's home. These guys just so happened to be grazing in a perfect spot!
Kaylee loved hanging around the donkeys. Not sure if this shows any indication as to why she hangs around me...
The still water in the natural lakes were perfectly reflecting the surroundings.
The first quarter of the hike was getting to this ridge. Though we doubted it could be prettier than the other side, it surely competed!
The photo above is similar to most of the ones that we were seeing when choosing to go here. Not going to lie, I wasn't too enthusiastic to just see these, but they still were an impressive feature! (And how this national park got its name) The fact that this was the only pictures I saw probably added to how blown away I was with the rest of the area.
No altitude sickness today!
The clouds seemed to linger around the Tre Cime rock formation. As we like to say, it was very "moody."
This national park went from being something that we wanted to stop by as long as it wasn't raining, to probably one of the biggest highlights of the trip. We got very fortunate with weather, but this will be one of the first things we do if/when we come back to the area!
