Italy - Cortina d'Ampezzo

Italy - Cortina d'Ampezzo

September 21-24, 2024

Cortina d'Ampezzo was our home base in the Dolomites for 3 nights. Above is the chalet where we stayed! Situated about a quarter mile from town, it had amazing views of the surrounding area. (Not that you could really go wrong in this town)

On our drive into town we made a few pit stops. Above was our first pit stop where we somehow ended up getting directed onto someone's personal property. They did have quite the view!

Lago di Braies was our next stop. Though it was neat to see because so many people post about it, we found it to be a bit of a tourist trap. We spent just enough time (less than 15 minutes) in the area where we didn't have to pay the outrageous parking fee.

Our drive into town was beautiful! Every turn would give way to another huge rock formation.

The main street was full of designer stores and cafes. Though we did eat lunch at one of the cafes, we tended to stick to the pizza in the area!

You still cannot convince me that they don't put something in their water to make it that blue!

The morning glow on the mountains almost made me feel like I was back in Sedona!

Our view from the balcony is pictured above. Cranes are currently hard at work as the town prepares to host the 2026 Winter Olympics!

Below is a ski jump ramp that was close to where we did our first load of laundry for this trip!

We made sure to soak in the last views of the Alps as we drove out of the region towards the coast of Italy.
