Germany - Mittenwald

Germany - Mittenwald

September 20-21, 2024

When looking for places to stay our first night, we wanted to get close to the dolomites, but also didn't want to drive the whole way there. We initially looked into Innsbruck, Austria, but then realized if we drove an extra 20 minutes, we could be in Germany. It just so happened that this little town ended up being one of our favorites!

Though we initially intended to not drive much after the sunset, we ended up arriving in Mittenwald well after it became dark. I could still make out the very large mountain right outside our hotel though!
Below was our hotel for the night. Though it had a very unique layout, the room was amazing after sleeping on a plane the night before.

Below was the view from our room! The hotel was family owned and operated by Daniel Rieger when we were there. He was a very easy and nice to work with.

The floral features all over the property were a big theme not only in Mittenwald, but also the entire Alps region.

The hotel also had an indoor pool, sauna, and exercise room!

On the southern end of town, there was a community garden with chickens.

The murals on the buildings were a nice touch to the overall theme! While walking the streets, many business owners were setting up shop for the day and vendors were preparing for the cow parade! (We didn't stay long enough to see it, but sounds like a fun event)

Given this was our first stop in the Alps, we were truly in love with the scenery and vibes of the area. Everyone took pride in keeping their property clean and the hospitality was amazing. We would definitely come back here in the future!
