Switzerland - Lauterbrunnen

Switzerland - Lauterbrunnen

Steps: 16,670

We had a long drive back to Zurich from the cruise port and many choices of stops along the way. We decided to take the 1.5 hour detour to Lauterbrunnen and it was definitely worth it!

I was excited to be driving in the Alps again! Once we passed Como in Italy, the scenery was beautiful!

Waterfalls were all along the journey!

The mountains really started to stand out as we drove into town. It felt similar to Yosemite in many ways.

It was at this point in the hike where we started to hear loud cracking noises. At first we thought the water was hitting weird, then thought it was rocks falling down, and then realized it was gunshots. It was alarming how close we were to them, but turned out to be a common occurrence in the area. I still made the executive decision to walk back on the other side of the creek, even if that meant we were on a road instead of a trail.

While hiking along the road, we saw several base jumpers parachuting off the cliffs! I could never do what they were doing.

After our hike in town, it was time to drive to Lucerne, which was where our hotel was.

It's impressive how flat it got once in Lucerne, but the Alps were still in the distance. This park was behind our hotel so Kaylee and I went running / walking through here prior to boarding our flight the next day.
