 Portland, Oregon

July 1 - 4

Steps: 27,837 (2 days)

Pictured above is the view of Portland from the Japanese Gardens. This was by far one of the nicest places in the city and hosted many great views and beautiful greenery.

The tree pictured above is said to be at least 500 years old.

Trails wound around the entire park greenery full of ponds and pretty plants.

There were also unique rock beds that were groomed to perfection.

Pittock mansion was on top of the same hill as the Japanese Garden. The view from there is what is pictured first. On a clear day, you would be able to see Mt. Hood in the distance.

Powell's books is considered the world's largest independent bookstore and it sure looks like it as well! Inside there are three floors, several different sections, and even a cafe.

Pictured above is Voudoo Doughnuts. This is a popular doughnut chain in the area and almost always had a line out the front door.

Although Portland is located in such a short distance from many neat attractions, the city itself is pretty worn down. Streets were dirty and the city hosted the worst homeless and drug addict population of any city I had been. It is definitely not a place we feel we need to return to anytime soon.
