Located at the southern tip of Spain, Gibraltar is a British territory that is known for its fortified mountain pictured above. Gibraltar was our first stop on the 12 day cruise through western Europe.

Our first stop was St. Michael's cave. This stunning cave provided shelter for injured soldiers back in the day, but has been transformed into a tourist area with a light show happening every 20 minutes. Pictured above is a natural rock formation that is said to resemble an angel!

AFRICA!! Although we still have yet to experience Africa, we were able to see it in the distance from the top of "The Rock."

The view from the top of the Rock of Gibraltar was truly stunning. What seemed like a lush, quaint, hill from the front, gave way to a steep cliff face on the other side. A lot of the area is off limits due to continued military operations on "The Rock"

We made many friends on the hike around "The Rock." Although a little intimidating at first, the monkeys were cohabitating well with the tourists and even leapt on the backs of them! They continue life as normal even with people around! (If you know, YOU KNOW)

Tunnels similar to the one pictured above run throughout the entire mountain. Sprinkled with cannons and other peep holes for gunman, this is truly an area that would be near impossible to invade.

An optional bridge stretched one of the gorges within the mountain. We did end up crossing it with shaky knees and hopes of sound engineering.

It was interesting being so far away from the UK and still seeing their flags everywhere. It was nice being able to communicate in English though!
